I saved off my .kde directory after making the change I suggested above. If you want you can try that.

cd to /home/user
mv .kde .kde-orig
tar xvf dotkde.tar

Also, are you using the default theme in hildon? Can anyone verify this with a fresh flash, with nothing more than xterm/ssh/becomeroot
