Had the phone for a few days now and I can honestly say that it is actually lifechanging. Brilliant, brilliant device; more exciting than holding my N93 for the first time.
The UI is so damn slick its unbelievable. Fast, responsive, pretty intuitive really and - coming from Symbian - I'm loving the central application install and update hub as a Maemo newbie.
Being able to drag down info and pics from Facebook into contacts (Hermes) and have instant messaging/Skype directly in the phone book has been a boon as well. Although constantly being signed in to IM does hit battery life, I find that I stay logged out of IM but set Mail to check my E-mail every 10 minutes. Battery life lasts far longer this way.
Openarena is mindblowing with the pixel resolution and dotpitch of the N900 screen. So clear, the same goes for video.
The calendar is a stroke of genius; different colours for different gigs etc. As a media type, I work at several seperate studios so I can dedicate a different colour to each one. Slightly annoying that the PC Suite app is...well....a bit crap regarding this and not really N900 FULLY compatible. I'll live.
I'm loving the homescreens, widgets and, even though its a beta, having the Firefox logo on there
(I'm a label whore
)
Seriously, if you don't have one yet, get the damn thing. Its gorgeous.
