Perhaps you know the answer to my next question
Does it work with Windows 7, or doesn´t that make any difference?

I see someone else asked about VNCviewer and Windows 7, i'd like to know that as well but I was a little too late
It dosen't matter if you're running Windows 7. If anything in the remote OS is screwing with the VNC server service, then then that program should show you an error on the Windows PC when you start it up. If there's a network or firewall issue blocking you, then the viewer on the N900 would fail to connect.

If you can launch the server on the PC, and you can connect the viewer on the Nokia, and you still see a black screen can mostly be attributed to lag.

The viewer must draw the entire desktop over the VNC connection unpon initial view. On slow networks, noisey wi-fi channel, or VNC servers that are broadcasting a million colors (you can set it to scale down the colors to conserve bandwidth) it can take a long time to display at first.

Try again and let it sit a bit. You can even try clicking on the black screen on the Nokia viewer and see if there are any corresponding actions on your Windows PC.
