I think by now it's been well established that a lot of people have issues with the N900. You just have to take a quick look at the threads in this section to realize that the n900 is bug heaven. The list of bugs is growing towards the moon.

Sorry but 'it's gonna be fixed soon' doesn't cut it. There are competitors out there that do everything the N900 does better and cheaper.

The whole 'mobile computer' argument is getting equally ridiculous. The N900 is not even at netbook or umpc level. Mentioning mobile computer and N900 in the same sentence is insulting to every low end laptop out there. This phone is not half baked...it's still in dough form.

Nokia took 10 steps forward on hardware design and 20 back on the software level. I suggest all the 'developers' on this forum start developing something worthwhile..not emulators for games that came out 20 years ago or stock apps that require the user to go through 20 menus to update 2 stocks.

But wait...this is Linux...think of the potential...think of the open source apps. I think i can describe Linux in a few words: 'nearly there for over 20 years'. I hate to break it to you guys but android and the iphone HAVE BEEN THERE for over 2 years. Get with the program or I'll see you here in 10 years again with Maemo20 and 'nearly there for over 30 years'.

You want some pointers on where to start?

- Make sure the user experience is stellar. nobody cares about remote desktop to a home computer from a moving bus (except for the 5 nerds on this forum with a complete collection of star wars figures)

- stop emulating games from the 80s. The world has moved on...so should you.
Petty.
Linux is a good OS, look at ubuntu!
Oh and wait, whats that based on... Debian
Whats Maemo based on? oh its Debian again, a really rather good variant of linux. One more point.. Linux is built around unix and so is Mac OSX but i dont hear you bashing that.

If you dont like the device, dont have one. But youshouldnt be going around telling everyone its rubbish just because it doesnt meet your needs. Thats like me going around telling disabled people wheel chairs are rubbish just because they arent suited to my needs.
