Show me a case that can protect my N900 from a 4-6 foot drop onto concrete that fits into my front pocket without my wife saying "you must be really happy to see me..."?

Short of a Pelican case, I wouldn't count on any case to fully protect from a drop test. If you're looking for strong drop protection, you need to look elsewhere. A few posts back was some photos of a hard rubber split case; the wife has something similar on her iPhooey and it has survived a few clumsy drops, but I'd say she has been lucky so far...
