I preferred skyfire over every other browser on my N95 8GB just because it atleast tried to play almost ever sites flash videos. You can talk smack about it and yes it did have its problems but I could watch daily show on hulu.com for about half a year before hulu decided to block it. I think I even watched veoh videos and veoh stuck all of the user files on to my phone from the skyfire browser and that really made me smile, because it operated just like my computer.
That was a big f'n plus in my book which is what they are talking about when they say skyfire takes away "click fear."
I haven't received my N900 yet and so I cannot judge if skyfire is better definitively than the N900 browser but so far seems like N900's browser is better from youtube videos.
Except for flash, which brings up the question I keep asking myself everytime I come to this forum,
Why do you guys not care how long it takes adobe to release current flash version for maemo?
It's like a couple of months delay for Nokia to release the N900 and you start flamethrowing "OMG such bad customer service, this release is so terrible, they need to get their act together or i will leave."
And then Adobe takes their sweet f'n time to release flash 10
and you guys are all kiss kiss we love you, thanks for your 9.4, we are so grateful we got 9.4 in our browser, OMG.
WTF?
That makes no sense to me, that is a double standard. Why cant we just go open source flash, gnash or whatever it is called. I'll put in 20 bucks to fund it.
Aren't open source programmers supposed to get mad when someone closes down the source code that limits major part of functionailty on the OS that they favor?
So why do you guys tolerate this? It makes no sense to me at all. I am not a programmer but I can pitch in some money, and I am very willing too, if it means I can release myself from Adobe's "Nokia phones are low priority" flash releases.
Who will start that monster open source flash project gnash?
And who will pitch in some money for the guys who will spend their time on it?
I will.
