My guess is:

1. Flash is the main culprit. People do not realize that Flash content and audipulse can stay active after closing the browser. Need to kill it or reboot.

2. Most of the widgets are battery sucking demons

3. Some people will leave apps open in the background

Main issue though is likely Flash.
