Easiest way would be to copy the source files to your n900 then compile and run from there.

I think it is fastest (if not more complicated) to transfer files via ssh, but you could also transfer them via bluetooth, sd card, or email.

Your user manual should cover transfering via sd card, bluetooth, and email. As for ssh, there is an article in the maemo wiki that discusses set up more thoroughly.
