Nokia contributed PHONET drivers to the Linux kernel. With this you can communicate with the 2G/3G modem over a socket connection. I will post some code here later when I get home.

Now, I believe, you could utilize PHONET for sending raw AT commands to the modem (e.g. for dialing USSD, codes, such as *123#). But PHONET is a low-level protocol and might require encapsulation of the AT commands in PHONET protocol.

I'm looking for people willing to learn more about PHONET, or who might have some experience with it already.
