Well, to be honest, I doubt it would harm the N900 in this case, except maybe if you plugged them into the A/V out jacks on a DVD player or something. For future reference, if you need to figure out connection schemes/pinouts for just about anyng, The Hardware Book probably has you covered. It is likely more technical than you were looking for, though. As for why it wasn't in the manual, I guess including it would have been prudent, but they probably just assumed the user would know; I haven't seen any recent-model TV that wasn't color-coded. Don't feel bad about it, though - better to check than to risk damage. :P
