I came across that wiki page which finally brought the LVM idea to me. Without a custom Kernel it probably would be nearly impossible.

But yes, having a framebuffer console is very helpful besides being cool.

None of my Linux PCs has a bootsplash, so why should the N900 have one

At some point I surly give the LVM idea a try, but as mentioned before, I need to figure out more about the way Maemo does stuff ;-) (Would be easier if Gentoo would run on the N900 for me )
