That question is a bit odd - I think there is no definite one-size-fits-all answer; then again "it depends" is also a boring answer. Transparency as such isn't good or bad. The question is about its application.

Let's say that I used to be a lot more idealistic and open towards transparency in the past. The more experience I have with it, of all the various real world implications it creates, the more questions and challenges it raises. this is not to say that those couldn't be solved in a positive manner, but it is to say that it isn't as easy as "just do it".
