I would research online, and then try to order a "Standalone SIM Card" online. Its cheaper as you will be able to activate the $10 "web2go" plan. Otherwise, they'll try to put you on the $25/mo "Smartphone Data" plan.

I had asked a rep at my local kiosk about any "discounted" data plans (a la AT&T's $15 "MediaNet plan), and he looked at me like I was crazy. Went online and T-Mo has (2) $10/mo data plans.
