Ok... multi step process.

Step one: install DVD decrypter. Allow it to rip the entire DVD to a separate directory removing the silly encoding.

Step two: con handbrake that the un-encoded folder is actually the DVD... and run using Fatalsaint's presets.

Step three: transfer to n900 via mass storage.

Step four: go through thread and thank everyone who helped.

I'll write a wiki page... but right now, I'm off to celebrate with a lot of chocolate.

Edit: been through the thread and thanked every individual who made a helpful post... a team of over 20 people. I shall archive this thread to point at next time someone says t.m.o is unwelcoming to people who don't know how to use linux.
