I agree but I think the rigid nature of the iphone will limit it's userbase once phone makers start cranking out more phones.

To contrast with your experience, my wife hates the iphone because of the lack of keyboard, she hates typing with the virtual keyboards. She was adamant I find her a phone with a keyboard. I got her the e71 and she fell in love with it, the bold 9700 was a close runner up and she skipped the e72 because she read a few reviews that said it was a bit buggy.

So once more choices are available and standards are in place it'll be interesting to see what happens.
