The (2) companies' focus/resources/drive (beat iPhone) are totally different. Now whether they should the strive to develop/innovate if they want to stay viable...most likely.
It sounds like you're saying that Nokia hasn't devoted enough resources to make sure that the n900 is actually competative (hardware and software) with it's peers. Is that what you're saying?

And which company are you saying is trying to beat the iPhone?
