If I admit I have no clue, do I lose points? Seriously, the N900 going to a phone platform befuddled me. It no longer does, since it's an actualized product; but at first I just wanted a new tablet.

Ok, now... I still want just a tablet.

Yes, and this was why I argued in the other thread that Android was decent in this regard that once you have an app working on android it'll work. So long as they stick with Delvik VM. But that right there is a killer.. since the overhead is so high.
It can be optimized. I'm almost willing to bet that's going to be the focus for the next few iterations.

On what?? The N900 hasn't been out since June has it?
Didn't mean to be ambiguous here. I'm talking about the iPhone. Before that, it was a year for the other firmware updates. Once a year is the norm for waiting for firmware updates for me right now.

All true. Nokia should hold a "Maemo Developers Contest" or something. But this still doesn't reflect negatively on the device, or the OS. Having a lack of third party is directly related to number of users - or money.
I swear I either tweeted about it, or stated it here... Nokia needs a "Summer of Code" type of come together. This assumes it doesn't already exist... which again I might be very wrong.

This is my hope.. not that I care. I don't think I'll need Ovi Store.. GPS *is* useful though. I don't have an N900 so I don't know if it's "good enough" for me or not. But it's not a dealbreaker for me by any means.
To be honest, I agree. OVI is not a dealbreaker for me either, but it's a sticking point that shows me that some things were not planned out fully. Same could be said about when the iPhone first came out too. So the similarities and possibilities for OVI and the N900 are hopefully as high in regards to a fair comparison to the iPhone and iTunes Music Store.

Let's see.
