And, except here, when most people say tablet they are not talking about NITs. If anything they are talking about even bigger tablets in the 7-9" screen range. If you look at Google News for Year of the Tablet (a CES catch-phrase) you'd be hard pressed to find a mention of the N770, N800, N810, or even N900.

*whisper* try searching on 'Internet Tablets' You might find things like the Archos and the Samsung and --gasp-- Nokia!

Besides that, as you even pointed out, look at the context of where you're having your conversation and you should realize that a tablet in this context is something small. Pocket-sized, even.
