If you use VNC to view your PC on your N800, you are basically using VNC "Viewer" but in order to to view the N800 on a screen you can use VNC "server" installed on the N800 which then the VNC viewer on your PC would be used for viewing the content.

I am running a 19" ViewSonic LCD monitor at 1440 x 900 resolution and it looks sweet also tested it on my 50" Panasonic Viera plamsa tv but for some people might be wierd, as the interface tends to stretch to the size of the screen in my case 50" which makes the buttons and menus massive , you could just correct this by changing the tv's aspect ratio to 4:9 and will make it slightly smaller more square as apposed to rectangular
