I don't see why not - it was not even my idea, I had seen it in the instructions for some other protector (forget which). Now, of course, don;'t soak it, just have it sort of damp. That way you can position it accurately and squeeze out any bubbles. Mind you, the Clarivue has its own instructions you should probably follow if you don't want to do my way
