I think someone else put in the best defense for this situation...

Apple took something like 6 months to release the first firmware update and another 18 months or so to release the first approved application. It took until version 3.0 of the firmware before the iphone could do MMS for example - 2 years after the devices release!

From my experience Nokia have been terrible about communicating timeframes and details however this device has only been out for about a month now so have a little patience.

No other device has such brilliant integration with Skype and other SIP/voip providers. No other device right now has such a good browser. There are a lot of capable devices out there but right now the n900 is very high on the list! There are apps for the device and a great supportive developer community building some great applications - also if you find an issue there is a bug tracker where you can log issues and actually talk with the developer too! Try that on for size Apple...

I think Nokia need to do something drastic now to keep their lead in the mobile industry as symbian is so dated and the hardware limited - have you ever gotten an out of memory error on a 5800, it totally sucks and happens far too often, havent seen that on my N900 yet!

Android is king of the show right now, Palm are doing interesting things and Apple are, well apple. Nokia and Microsoft need to really get to work asap! The Hardware is great, time to work on the software and services...

Dont get me wrong the n900 is far from perfect but it is a decent device, with a bit of work it could be great! I for one am hopeful...
