Hi,
I have the N900 for a week now and I've noticed that my battery is draining even when the device is idle. I've talked about it with a friend of mine (known here on the forum as late666) and he told me about "
the wifi bug
which keeps the wifi interface on even though it's off. Instead of waiting around I decided to create a small app that unloads the wifi modules (both wl12xx and mac80211) completely from the kernel and thus rendering the wifi chipset worthless. Running the application again will first detect if the wifi modules are not loaded into the kernel and will then load them back and restart all wifi-chipset-related demons and modules.
I've already passed the "proof of concept" level and I'm now packing it all to a nice "gui". If anyone has an idea for another functionality of that (very small) app I'd love to hear it. Also, if anyone would like to try the app once it is ready just give me a shout here in this thread.
Regards from Israel.
