Besides, if you're listening on headphones, why would you want it ring on speakers?

I'm confused by this as well because with the original firmware, the behaviour seemed to be set to 'regression mode' already.

That is - alert sounds (ringing, sms, email, etc.) were being played through not only the headphones, but the device's loudspeakers. Definitely not the way I want it to behave.

Now some people seem to be reporting that there has been a change in the way it's working, but my N900 is still just as anti-social as ever. That is - it's still broadcasting alerts to the world even when headphones are plugged in..


Not sure what to make of this, especially as this update isn't supposed to be fixing anything of that sort in the first place..
