Even my old e61i got updated until few months ago when I decided to stop checking.

Nokia, differently than Apple, actually release their OS updates for free. And also, differently than Apple, lets say that for some weird reason they would not release it to n900. You can actually use your device with the port, as the up post mentioned. Not all companies let you have their new OS for free(Apple, MS anyone?!)

And they are thinking about this possibility of porting or not... Believe me.
I am new to Nokia as I have been using Blackberrys on T-Mobile in the USA with local SIM cards when traveling in Europe. Now I am considering the N900 as it's specs sound ideal for my needs.

But this discussion thread re: the OS obsolescence potential has dampened my enthusiasm. What is Nokia's track record re: updating OS, OS support and introduction of replacement products ie N901 N902 N1000 if you get my drift.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
