Err.. iPhone? Symbian?

Google doesn't care about Android, Chrome, etc.. those are just projects to get more people into using Google services. The more people that use Google's services, the more data they have and behavioral patterns they can sell.

That's also why alot of their services are free, because their profit doesn't come from charging you for those services, but what they get from you using those services are more valuable. Millions, perhaps billions of people use gmail, most don't realize that Google has a supercomputer that goes through their communication to others, and others communication to them to:

a) improve algorithms (For example, Google Voice and Google 411 have contributed to other projects, for example the Nexus One)
b) to identify patterns and sell that to companies
c) to fine tune the advertisements to you

In particular to a), that then goes back into improving software, making it more likely a user will use Google's service rather than say Microsoft. Thus perpuating the cycle.
