What a good time that game was, and it didn't even have 3D rendering.
We're on the same wavelength. I looked around to see what options there are for that. I think it works in dosbox, but that's not an ideal solution. The most complete clone i found is java-based. I considered doing a more modern clone using Ogre3D but that's a much more major project than i have time for. There's a partly done version like that already, but i didn't mark the page and that must have been for a good reason (probably not GPL license or something).

IMO, Magic Carpet and Descent were the most amazing games of the early WWW days. I still remember how slow the demo download was on the modem.
