Hoping that Skype will have videochat on the N900 soon.
I had the exact same experience using Mac OSX and Firefox with N900. Everything works for the call, up until the point you click the webcam button on the N900. I get about a second or two of video sent from the N900 to the Mac, and then the call dies.
