I'm typing this message as I do the transition from Gaim to Pidgin on 770/OS2006. So, here we go
- Successfully uninstalled MSN protocol, smileys and Gaim itself
- Successfully added package repositories, package list refreshed OK
- Pidgin downloaded and installed OK
- Also successfully downloaded and installed: pidgin-sounds, pidgin-emotes-default, MSN and IRC protocols

As soon as I clicked the Pidgin IM icon in the Navigator, the background disappeared, but I use the Idea launcher, which sometimes causes background disappearances -- IMO, it is not Pidgin that caused this, but I can only rely on intuition and simpathy for this statement

- MSN working great
- IRC seems OK, but I didn't try it out much

Some comments:
+ Stability is vastly improved
+ I like the (subtle and not so subtle) UI improvements
- Can't get sounds to work
- Clicking almost any button opens up a separate window

Nice work though, and VERY much appreciated

PS: Google talk would be nice although I don't think it's worth the hassle, seeing that there's Tapioca (if that ever gets improved...).

*edit*

Sounds work, but are almost silent! And there is a small bug with the main UI: closing a group of contacts works perfectly, but it is impossible to reopen the groups with the stylus, since they re-close immediately. Works with the button in the center of the rocker switch though.

Bug in the conversations section of the preferences: clicking the decrease font size button makes the font larger if the current font size is the default.
