The max res is 848x480 I think, so it will support that vertical res of 480 pixels exactly. I've been using 720x304/384, etc., from DVDs so that it looks good also playing on PS3 on my TV (720p). TV out at that res actually looks superb, not much different to DVDs IMHO, on a 50" plasma. Depends on how picky you are I suppose

It will play larger res's and scale them, but I don't think anyone has really tested that so far. It will scale down 1024x no problem, but the upper limit on x, y? Who knows?

EDIT: sorry, I mean the stored resolution of 1024 (normal for PAL movies on DVD). Result is the same 720.

You can save space by messing around with encoding settings, but I am pretty content with the standard one as it's enough to cart around 20-30 movies and a whole series of a TV show in the phone (using 32GB+16GB).
