Tempting if anyone can advise on cheapy phone to pair with N800.
Concern expressed if pairing done with laptop but when he saw N800 happy to advise on sim only option.
I'd have gotten his approval in writing, and in triplicate. The T-Mobile automated systems won't know you are using an N800 when they begin to throttle your download speed... but as long as you restrict your access to web surfing and T-Mobile don't detect "laptop" usage because of the way the phone connects to the network (ie. they can detect tethered modem usage as opposed to the internal browser data usage) you might be ok, but I suspect they can detect whenever you tether to a laptop.

Me, I think the manager is leading you up a garden path.
