You can install debian with easy debian. If Linus Torval was the father of Linux and Ubuntu, then Debian would be the mother of Ubuntu... Where as now Ubuntu is the driving force to further develop Debian. (so u can say ubuntu is now taking care of the parent) Anyway, Debian is also what Maemo is based on, so we should be greatfull for ubuntu to help debian evolve /
