Connect to a wi fi/ if you have a internet plan with vodaphone its recommended that you use that as some of the earlier updates were having problems connecting with wi fi.

Im guessing your phones telling you as a "!" from the top where the clock is that there is a maemo 5 update ?
If this is the case, then dont use the computer !
In using the computer to update may delete all of the data on the n900, wat that means is putting your contacts details hand by hand one at a time again and again and again...ok you get the idea !

So basicly go to the app manager and click update from there and then just click the maemo 5 update and download and install it !
