Trying to get rdesktop-cli working here as rdesktop 1.7 has those port issues.
using the "rdesktop-cli -f -u xxx -p xxx 123.123.123.123:12345" command line i get the following message:
WARNING: Remote desktop does not support colour depth 16; falling back to 24
WARNING: Remote desktop changed from 800x480 to 1920x1200.
disconnect: Unknown reason.
Error code: 768
The good thing is that rdesktop obviously connects to my PC because it correctly detects the screen resolution. I tried changing my screen resolution to 800x600 and 1024x768 and tried with both available color depths, which are 16 and 32 (24 not available for some reason). Didnt help. Also tried googling for that error code, but found nothing.
I'm wondering if my Vista settings are somehow bad. Havent used remote desktop before so what I did was I created an invitation file and opened it in notepad. Found the ip
ort there. Maybe I'm supposed to start the rdp server on vista some other way?
Any help appreciated.
edit: also tried sending invitation ticket via email. The ticket looks almost identical to the file invitation, but is missing my internet IP and only showing a local IP. Ok so I tried to use rdesktop over WLAN, and it does connect, but gives the same error code 768.
This whole invitation stuff seems really unnecessary and I should probably be reading some Vista forums on how to properly set up the RDP server, but it sounds like other people on here are getting their rdesktop to run without the kinda trouble im having...
edit2: I'm using Vista Home Premium which apparently only has "Windows Remote
Assistance
" instead of remote desktop (what ever the big difference might be).
Is it even possible to use rdesktop with a Vista Home Premium machine or am I just wasting time here?
