Because the update might go wrong and you might want to flash to a clean version of the latest firmware. This is a one-off deal here. Don't expect firmware updates in the future that can't be rolled back, but this one can't be because of the CMT firmware.

Why that is, I don't know, but it's apparently the case and I'm inclined to trust Nokia probably has a good reason for it.
