The most flexible solution would be using the SS from the MMI or shortcuts. But this is unlikely to happen:

Unfortunately the requirement engineering in maemo5/phone app has not considered beeing 3GPP compliant when it comes to "legacy" functionalities like supplementary services or ussd.
