This is just typical of the ******ed management at Nokia!

They remind me of Palm many years ago when they just seem to lose focus on thier business. Palm developed great hardware and great software. Unfortunately this was not enough and the company just seemed to flounder for many years (numerous buy-outs, constant re-organising and frequent re-brands). Now Palm have had limited success but have completely lost the lead they had before the "immortal jesus phone" that is iPhone and Apple took the lead.

I think Nokia are in the early stages when Palm started making "odd" decisions and Nokia appear to have lost focus within the mobile phone market.

I'm afraid it will get worse before it gets better. The N900 is a top-end smartphone and they could increase sales of it by including the free premium version of OVI maps - it's a great selling point.

But they won't. It will probably be ignored.

If you look at how they mis-managed the launch of th N900 - numerous delays, released a "buggy" firmware update, released the N900 in the USA first (which made no difference to thier market share) and the "stone-wall of silence" towards the community you can see why I am skeptical.

I'm afraid Nokia appear to be aimless in thier business strategy and will not have the success they deserve.
