Mmm. Yeah, I am not saying that the N900 sales are in the past nor the device, I am saying that the planning for the N900 sales and device was in the past.

Nokia did put in a plan and actual work to bring the Ovi Maps version we got to a new platform, the Maemo 5 platform. From whatever they started out with.

They would not have planned like that and put resources like that into the software package if they ment to replace it after 3 months.

Now they're pushing the Sygic nav package. They would not have done that if they had planned to replace the Ovi Maps package after 3 months.

Being surprised and enraged by the lack of a major Ovi Maps upgrade now is... Well...

Don't get me wrong. I think it's is completely legimate to be surprised and enraged about the quality of the Ovi Maps version they DID plan to give us. I just don't think you can expect them to pull a new version out of the Maemo sleeve just yet.

If Nokia wanted to give us Flash 10 but couldn't get it ready in time, they would tell us. And they did. It made people buy the device. If Nokia wanted to give us a free upgrade to better navigation software, they would have told us. It would have made people buy the device.

Now they have planned to give free navigation software to the next generation of Maemo devices. And they have already told us. It will make people buy the device.
