Way to start, an iPhone killer with a keyboard? What's with that term anyway, it's ridiculous, you don't need an N900 to embarrass a phone as featureless as iPhone.

We're not nokia and honestly no one cares about your complaints in this topic - please report them as bugs.

Mplayer is a an audio/video player engine, it doesn't even have a user interface:

Mplayer is available for N900 too and it needs a GUI: KMplayer or SIB.
The default media player on N900 has a widget, that allows it to be controlled from the desktop. The widget has to be reset if the phone is restarted and it removes the other widgets with it - it's a bug already adressed in the next update.
If you don't like the default media player you can choose:
-Mplayer
-Canola2
-GPE audio player
-MediaBox media player
-ukmp
