Most MAME emulation is still based on cpu muscle and minimal 3D assistance. This is due to multiple 3D chip platforms as well as proprietary 3D chips as well.

DOA, Rival Schools, Tekken 3 and Soul Calibur play great, if you have a pentium duo or above.

A real test is if you get NFL Blitz games to play smooth. The new i5 520 even plays some of those games smooth.
