Why not have an on-screen set up?

a good example of this is the iPhone where the screen emulates the controls of an analogue stick.

Surely the N900 would handle this kind of feature better being resistive it allows for a more precise position than its capacitive cousin

or of course use a BT controller (PS3) and simplify this whole thing!
