I've started a Brainstorm here to discuss ways of making use of the Google gelocation API to locate the position of the Maemo device. This method uses wifi access points to get a position and so can be used indoors and in built up city areas where there is no clear view of the sky.

An example of the process and source code can be found here and the developer's blog about it can be found here.

The idea is to use this as a personal location tool, a method to locate lost or stolen devices or even to create location aware profiles.

I understand that he iphone and android devices have quite a few versions of this already, but I like my N900 and would rather stick with it.

Please vote and propose solutions to this brainstrom thingy.
