Den, you are a god. thanx for this very useful post! I'm only interested in the native camera app, so it doesn't matter to me if it's upside down when facing towards me. You could just turn the device 90" to vertical if you'd like a self portrait. I really wanted to use the camera again after the upgrade to Diablo (on my N800), and your post saved that for me. Thanx again! --by the way, the regular camera app IS in the repositories. And the name of the configuration editor is called gconf-editor.
