For the price, there are no competitors. I guess the closest would be a PDA with a VGA screen, but I don't know much about this class of devices. If you step up to a UMPC, then the closest is the PepperPad 3. It is cheap for a UMPC, and runs Linux - in fact it is much more mainstream than the N800 (e.g. it runs OpenOffice, FireFox, acroread, ...). You can even install Wine and run Internet Explorer if you have lost your mind. The 800x480 screen (N800 or PepperPad) is much better for web browsing than 640x480 (VGA). I have a 770 and a PepperPad 3, and I still use the 770 for reading e-books and portability but I use the PepperPad every day for web browsing from an armchair.
