I've added a bit more on my last post to link in to the SipGate pages (you might need to be logged in for this one).

STUN is a workaround for the problems with using a NAT based connection to the outside world. There is more info on Wikipedia STUN Article

STUN should work even if it's not required so might be worth having a go and ensure it still works with your current setup.
