I wasn't really talking about bare minimum bug fixes approach we have from Nokia. In switching to Andriod you've got a big step forwards in terms of:
Features
Reliability
Support
Applications

I can't see Maemo 5 ever being 'better' than Andriod (and I know we all love MicroB). In 12 months time Andriod will be moving forwards with a rapid progress and Maemo 5 will be dying. Switching seems logical for all concerned, especially Google who could capture a massive market here.

Nokia are a business and have chosen a path of using the OSS community phenomenon to reduce their overheads specifically after sales support and development. Unlike Apple who do the opposite and make a killing from their Applications store.
