Of course! It's definitely a plus, but it does result in these sort of issues being visible.

That's down to numbers - there'll be way more E51 sales than N800/N810 sales (several orders of magnitude). In addition, the S60 codebase is probably very coherent - a lot of fixes made for the latest models can trivially be rolled out for older models. Maemo isn't (currently) like that - m4/m5/m6 have all had radical changes, making it pretty much impossible to back port fixes (when Qt4.6 comes to m5, this may well make it easier to back port m6 updates/fixes though).
