It makes much more sense to continue to improve maemo rather than android.

At a minimum android is has a linux kernel (heavily modified?) and thier own version of glib libraries - this essentially makes porting exsisting Linux apps very, very difficult.

However, maemo is much more aligned with the open-source philosophy. The kernel & many libraries(including glib) are closer to linux and means porting apps is much, much easier.

There is nothing wronhg with android running on the n900 but makes much more sense to continue with maemo.
