In fact my user expereince on N900 is better.

Each OEM still needs to do their portings of Andorid to their devices, CPU is part of the hardware, and on top of that to provide a different UI to distinguish themselves from the others. Since their is no OEM that makes Android for N900, the "support" of that would only come from the community.

If Nokia dropped support on N900, why would you think there would be any better community support of Android on N900?
I'm certain the community support of Maemo on N900 is larger than the community support, if there is any, of Andorid on N900.

It just like Mac OSX can run on many PCs but it also has numerous problems with drivers and software unless the PC has exact match of Mac hardware. The Hackintosh scene is largely support by the community and still a lot of issues have been solved.
