If people here want android - buy an android phone!
The n900 was designed and built with maemo in mind.
The n900 is not an entertainment device it is more a practical computer/mobile phone (in my humble opinion).
If you want shiny guis, apps and entertainment then there are numerous android phones and iPhones to choose from.
It is entirely up to you, they are good phones and people enjoy having them.
It would be great if android could run on the n900 and would be quite an interesting project.
If people think android is "better" than maemo then that's fine.
But to come onto a maemo-focused forum and say "..android should run on it instead of maemo because it is better.." is ******ed.
Why are you here and why buy an n900(if you did)?
I'm all for intelligent constructive criticism and debating merits of different platforms/OSes - that's fine.
If Nokia do decide to ignore the n900 then the community will still develop software for it. I can develop software for it - it's open source. This also means that maemo & Mer can continue to improve without Nokia's influence.
Maybe my next phone will be an android-based phone - I'll see in a couple of years or so.
I'm generally happy with maemo on the n900 and will personally support it. If I can run android on it too that would be a bonus but not essential to me personally.
