I was able to hear distinct tones for * and # when I tested.

I do still find it frustrating that key click sounds are tied to DTMF tones in the profile settings. Key clicks do not work half of the time, and are a particular nuisance when using a bluetooth headset, but I can't shut them off since I need the tones.
